After classes this weekend, I did a variety of things, including starting the prep for Thanksgiving. We bought the Turkey(s) last week and this weekend I moved them to the fridge. We’re making a 13lbs whole turkey and a 7.5lbs breast (whole bone-in breast). I’m brining both using similar methods (Alton Brown brine for the full bird, and Emeril’s cranberry glazed recipe for the breast). I’ll start the brining on Wed. evening for cooking on thursday morning/afternoon. Should be great!

We still have some shopping to do to get everything ready. Mostly grocery type things such as fruits and herbs for the brine and aromatic “stuffing”. I bought a new roasting pan that fits in the top oven better, and I’ll use the old pan for the breast in the lower oven. I didn’t get an electric knife this year either… I’ll just sharpen the carving knife to a laser-like edge… BOOYAH!

In no particular order, and with random significance and/or consequence, here’s some things I did this week:

  • Got Old Blue and and the 308 registered (seriously, that was on my Outlook Task List since March!)
  • Got Jonah registered for Basketball and put his team schedule/info on the TeamSites.com beta.
  • Started plan for moving the Cancer Services of NM site to a new server (pro bono work) for Janet
  • Updated some financial accounts and updated some automated billing details.
  • Downloaded Station 3 (The Swan) countdown clock and installed on Desktop and Laptop.
  • Started doing more ab exercises – youch
  • Got the Turkey, Turkey Breast, and various equipment in preparation for Thanksgiving Dinner at our house.
  • Cleaned out my office and shreded about 2 garbage bags full.
  • That’s about the most of it. At least that’s the stuff I can talk about ;)

All of us at CheatCodes got PSPs to play around with. I’ve been playing Burnout:Revenge mostly, and it’s a very good game (much like the Burnout games for the consoles). Jonah really likes it too, but he’s also a big fan of the Golf game that came with it (can’t think of the exact name off the top of my head). I plan on getting The Con in the next day or so, and will get Armored Core as soon as it comes out.

I got Old Blue back from Soren’s this morning with passing emissions paperwork! He said it required a lot of tuning of the carbs and an oil change, but that was it! I went and registered it right away and now it’s totally legal! Including new headlights! Now to get the other car done :)

I also finished my 308 book edits this weekend, and sent them off to the publisher. I’m not sure how long it will take to get it finally published – hopefully not too long. I have no idea how many pages it is now – but it’s probably close to 170 to 200 pages (it will all depend on photos, diagrams, and size of the book I suppose). I’m glad I finally got that off my plate!

I started reading two books last week. The first is The Lance Armstrong Performance Program: Seven Weeks to the Perfect Ride and i’m into the first week. It’s an interesting program, and it’s definitely pushing me. I started with the intermediate program, and when that’s done, I’ll go to the Advanced. Then I’ll have about 2 months of training left before the Iron Horse. The other book is: Mentored by a Millionaire : Master Strategies of Super Achievers by Steven Scott. So far it is interesting and has some good ideas. I think there is an audio book, but it’s not on Audible.com yet, and I don’t want to pay 89 bucks for it! BOOYAH!

Apparently, after the third ticket for having an “un-registered” vehicle, they really want you to register it! I was stopped for the umpteenth time last Friday evening, and this time I think they’re serious :) .

Old Blue’s registration ran out in 2003, and after failing two previous emissions tests, it was time to take Old Blue to Soren’s for a tune-up, new headlights, and any required repairs. I dropped it off this morning, and hopefully will hear back in a few days.

I also picked up another Microsoft Natural Ergonomic Keyboard 4000. So I have them everywhere! It’s a great USB keyboard! It only took microsoft a few years to release a nartual USB (non-wireless) keyboard!

Jonah and I went trick-or-treating last night while Janet stayed home and passed out the candy. Jonah went as a jedi!

It took about an hour and he filled his “pumpkin” pail almost twice (I carried the overflow ;) .
