New PHP IDE
After trying several PHP Integrated Development Environments, I decided today to go with PhpED by NuSphere. It’s a very good PHP Editor with some other great features (project management, file version with CVS, integrated SSH, etc.). They offer a free trial download, and I heartily recommend it.

Weekend Wrapup
Audio/Video
Finally saw “Exorcism of Emily Rose” this weekend, and it was okay. Not terribly frightening, but worth a rental. My amazon purchase of “Drive” arrived yesterday, so I threw that in the PC while I did some financial stuff (compling ETF historical data to do some portfolio risk analysis and risk minimization functions). It’s weird – this movie ROCKS sooo hard, yet so few people know about it. If you like martial arts films, this is one of the best of the 90′s – second only to Fist of Legend. I’m also almost caught up with Battlestar Galactica. I’m two-thirds through the Season 2.0 disks and will finish sometime this week. The second seasons seems like it’s less “military/warfare” related and delves more into the personal interractions. It’s good so far, though sometimes not as exciting as the first season.
Cycling
More bike riding this weekend, with the CS200 in tow. I like it, but I’m still getting used to the online software vs. the software that came with my polar watch. It seems like it’s missing some of the cool features (graphing, etc). I need to play with it more. I also installed a Barbieri CarbOne carbon mini pump – that sucker is light! I also had more time with the TIME pedals/cleats. And I have to say I like them better than the SPD-SL’s I used to have. The clip in is much easier… Especially when stopping and starting with traffic around. The spd-sl’s weren’t hard, but these are down-right easy.
Family
I finished installing my grandparent’s DVD player. I also took over some Northern Exposure and Monk DVDs for them to watch. I told them to call if they had questions, but they haven’t called yet. I also orderd a book for my grandfather called “Royal Navy Escort Carriers” by David Hobbs. I think it has pictures of the carrier that he was on during WWII (The Premier). I could only find it in England – amazon didn’t have it and neither did amazon.co.uk!

Cool PHP/CSS/MySQL/JS Tools
I found a really cool PHP/CSS/MySQL/JavaScript Quick Lookup tool. It uses AJAX to look up function definitions and usage.
I’m going to my grandparents house tomorrow to hook up their new DVD player. Jonah has a birthday party to go to, a basketball game, and registration for baseball. Hopefully I’ll have time to take a couple hour bike ride.

All kinds of things
First, will the “resolutionists” at the gym please quit already!? We both know you’re going to quit in the next few weeks, so hurry up. You’re just hogging the equipment now, and it’s annoying all of us regulars that have been going for years. Give up already! Sheesh! I’ve had to get up early the past few days just so I could finish in a reasonable amount of time.
I like The Next Generation more than I like TOS, but this guy made his home theater match the old Enterprise Bridge. I would have the a TNG bridge had I either (or both) the money and/or desire.
Kevin, Update Your Blog! Sheesh!
I attached the Polar CS200 (with cadence) cycle computer to my new bike last night. It’s pretty cool.

A New Bicycle
Last week I picked up a new bike – a TCR Composite 1 from Giant. It’s a much better performer than the red one, and this sucker is light! I didn’t get to go on a full ride until this Sunday and it was FUN! It’s soooo much ligher, and it actually rides much smoother than my other bikes – the bumps aren’t nearly as harsh. The riding position is a lot more aggressive.
I also bought and finished the newest book in the Man That Never Missed series by Steve Perry (not the old pop singer). It’s called The Musashi Flex and it’s the story of the man that invented the “97 steps”. I enjoyed it immensely.

Some Web Design Links
I just thought I’d post some nice web sites that focus on design and templates for web designers. OSWD.org has lots of free to use templates. Colormatch.dk provides a nice web applet for picking matching colors from the color wheel. Another great color tool is available for making a cool matching color scheme. And Kevin just reminded me of ColorBlender.com.

Weekend Goings-on
I spent most of the weekend working on straightening out all my finances and organizing the info into a file cabinet. I also had to send in my quarterly tax payment (1040ES), which is never fun, but hopefully I sent enoughto avoid a big tax bill in April. I spent the other part of the weekend working on TeamSites and a project for school. The CSS and layout for the main site is complete, and I’m working on the templates for the team sites.
We watched War of the Worlds on Pay Per View on Saturday night. It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be, but the ending was a bit boring and brief… I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars.
I also watched the pilot (mini-series) for Battlestar Galactica. Holy Cow… It ROCKS so far. I’m really impressed with how they set up the entire premise of the show and kept the story line and made it really interesting and exciting. I’ll start the first season this week.

Tasks Jr.
A few weeks ago I installed Tasks Jr. to keep track of my online tasks. I really like it and will most likely continue to use it. You need a server with php and mysql though. I tried using Outlook’s tasks, but it doesn’t support nested (multi-level) tasks and it wasn’t available from anywhere. I also tried using BackPackIt, which was available from everywhere, but didn’t have some of the calendar functions I really wanted. Tasks Jr. is free too.
The full body workout is tough. It’s a customized version of one available on t-nation.com. I haven’t been this sore in a while – and I can definitely tell I need to get more recuperative sleep. I’m also considering getting a nice Giant TCR Composite 1 or 2. Maybe this weekend…

Let’s see… I haven’t udated in a while…
Seriously slacking here… But only on the blog. I’ve been busy otherwise.
Jonah got just about everything he wanted for Christmas: a lightsaber kit, Star Wars Battlefront II for XBox, Harry Potter for PSP, and artist set (easel, paints, etc), and most importantly, a 5 iron. We went up to the San Juan Feast Day on the day after Christmas. Janet went early that morning and I left a little later with Grandma and Grandpa Murray.
We celebrated the new year at our house with the usual gang. We played games until Midnight. The only notable missing were Kevin and Debbie, but Kevin called early in the evening to say Hello to everyone. Happy New Year Kevin and Debbie!
The new semester at school started this past weekend. Both classes are excellent so far. E-Commerce has just started by going over the basics. I’m developing a site to sell my (currently in development) e-Book. The site is “How I Lost 50 Pounds.com“. Investment and Portfolio Analysis is extremely interesting as well.
On the diet and exercise front, nothing exciting as yet. I’m starting a full-body workout that a friend from work suggested. 3 days per week of weight training – full body each day. I’m adding 2 days of cardio, with one day off.
